Market Plunge- What's Next??

Market Plunge- What's Next??

US Market Plunge- Global Panic??
I think the past few days was the most difficult period for a lot of investors out there. Most of my friends have many sleepless nights after the recent US market plunge.

However, I sleep pretty well although I have some US stocks which dropped almost 15% one 2 days. I always believe that when there is a crisis, there is always an opportunity. For you to sleep well at night even you hold stocks in US, Malaysia or Singapore, remember these 4 golden rules,

1) Don't buy stocks using bank margin- Use your own money and NEVER borrow to buy stocks!!
2) Don't panic, when stocks go down, they will go up eventually as long as you ARE BUYING GOOD STOCKS! Hold on and wait a while, your stocks will go up soon!
3) Diversify- buy some stocks, properties, REIT, gold/silver, when one comes down another investment will go up certainly!
4) Earn and invest and never invest to live. If you do not have a fixed income and retired, put at least 80% of money in bonds/hedge fund or else you will lose all your money if you put everything in stocks when the market is bad!

No worry when the market plunges because it provides you golden oppurtunity to hunt for cheap and valuable stocks!!

Genting Hong Kong

Genting Hong Kong- An undervalued stock??

Still remember about 3 years ago when I bought my Genting Singapore stock, it was about S0.45 per share. I was very worried that time because of uncertainty of global economy and there was rumour as well that Genting Berhard might not be able to build the casino due to various causes. But buying Genting Singapore proves to be one of my best investment ever because I made a handsome profit of almost 120% when I sold my shares at S1.20 when the casino was opened. I still regret that I sold my shares too early because as you all know, Genting Singapore share price has rocketed above 2 dollars now!

So, what's the next undervalued stock to buy?? I am looking at Genting Hong Kong ( Genting again??). Genting Hong Kong is formerly known as Star Cruises Limited, is a leading global leisure, entertainment and hospitality enterprise, with core competences in both land and sea-based businesses. I am very interested in its Phillipines business which is Resort World Manila and I always believe that gaming and resort business is the most profitable business in the world.

However, there are various challenges faced by Genting Hong Kong- uncertainty of global economy, the Phillipine political turmoil etc.

Anyway, do your research and put your bet. I am not sure,I hope that Genting Hong Kong will become the second Genting Singapore in 2 years time.

Shares to Watch in US (I)

Shares to Watch in US- Banks

Do you have foreign shares? If you are interested in US shares, I would certainly ask you to bet your money in financial institution especially banking giants.

However, you must take your own responsibility, do some research and read some financial reports about the companies you are going to invest.

Yes, US econocomy is showing signs of recovery and the sector benefits most will be banking sector. Look for companies such as Citigroup, Bank of America, JP morgan Chase etc.

After JP morgan earning report, watch out for other major banks earnings. Citigroup (NYSE: C - News) is scheduled to report on January 18, Goldman Sachs on January 19 and Morgan Stanley on January 20.

RM67B Stimulus- What stock to watch?

RM67 Billion Stimulus- What Stock to watch?

Yes, good news again, our Mr PM announced 'good news' again. This time, another RM67 Billion investment under his effort of what the Malaysian government terms as Economic Transformation Programme (ETP).

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said the projects from 10 National Key Economic Areas (NKEAs) would generate RM36bil in gross national income and create 35,000 new jobs.

Wow! Sounds interesting and ceratinly all eyes are over what stocks will benefit from this announcement.

I think the big winner will be oil and gas and certainly all stocks related to this field will be investors' favourite in 2011!

KLCI to Hit New High Again?

KLCI to Hit New High Again?

Will Kuala Lumpur Composite Index ( KLCI) to hit new high again?? I strongly believe so due to a few reasons,

1) Influx of hot money from overseas will continue until US economy recovering, I anticipate US economy will slowly recover middle and end of 2011 and US market will go in to bull market starting from 2012, therefore, our market will continue to rise until end of 2011/early 2012.

2) Our PM will continue to announce 'good news' for investors as well as developers, timing is crucial for our Mr PM, he has to announce general election before our market makes a U turn, it is likely our election will be held by latest end of this year or early 2012.

3) Our economy is still solid with anticipated growth of 5-6% in 2011, our poperty market already makes great gain in 2010, everyone is so euphoric about shares and property now but most of us will get burnt unless we make portfolio reshuffle before end of 2011.

Yes, KLCI will hit new high soon, may be at 1700-1750 in 3-4 months time!

Market Plunge? Can we escape?

Market Plunge? Can we escape?

Past few weeks was an interesting weeks for everyone. I always hope that the market will do badly because you can get cheaper property only if there is market plunge.

I still remember the last time you can get a cheap Singapore property was the time of Asian crisis in 1997-1998.

Everyone is still euphoric that after AIG being taken over by US Fed, the money and subprime crisis is over. I am rather sceptical about that. Last friday KLCI rebounded almost 3.5% because everyone is hoping to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

I must warn you that the worst market plunge is still ahead of us.

No one can escape from US market slow down and we are expecting recession at the end of the year!!

Don't burn your hands if you plan to jump into the market today or next week!

Options Trading- Make money??

Options Trading- New Trend to make money??

I am seeing a lot of advertisements about option trading recently in local and Singapore Newspaper. Can option trading really help you to achieve your financial goal??

As I told you earlier, if you ask 10 people on the street about ‘ stock market’, 8 out of 10 will tell you, ‘ You are going to burn your money if you invest in stock market!!’ However, I think you must look at stock market in a different perspective. Warren Buffet makes his fortune through stock investment and he will tell you if you want to get rich, invest in stock but remember two rules,

Rule 1: Never lose your money in stock!!
Rule 2: Never forget rule 1!

If you ask me to swim across Johore strait to Singapore, I will tell you I will be 100% drown and it is crazy to do so!! Anyway, if you ask any national swimmer to do so, he will say ‘ It’s kacang!!’

So my advice to you, open your eyes and acquire new information and knowledge, you will be suprised how much your hidden potential!!

SP Setia and Pearl Island, Penang

I am going to talk about SP Setia because of two reasons here, its housing project in Penang, Pearl Island and its share.

SP setia was voted as Asian best 200 companies under a billion in Forbes 2006 report. Although its share prices have hit historical high of more than RM9.00 recently and dropped to RM 7.35 later, I still think you should put an eye on this share if you are interested to buy some shares in property sector.

Basic Terminology (1)

Basic Terminology about Shares

Before we go to deep discussion about share market and stock ( since stock market is the hottest topic now almost everywhere in the World and even kids under 10 years old in China buy shares!!), I think it is important for us to learn some basic terminology in stock market!

Earnings per Share: The amount of profit to which each share is entitled.

Going Public: Slang for when a company is planning an IPO.

IPO: Short for Initial Public Offering. An IPO is when a company sells stock in itself for the first time.

Market Cap: The amount of money you would have to pay if you bought ever share of stock in a company. (To calculate market cap, multiply the number of shares by the price per share.) Short for Market Capitalization.

Share: A share represents an investor's ownership in a "share" of the profits, losses, and assets of a company. It is created when a business carves itself into pieces and sells them to investors in exchange for cash.

Ticker Symbol: A short group of letters that represents a particular stock (e.g., "Coca Cola" is referred to as "KO".)

Underwriter: The financial institution or investment bank that is doing all of the paperwork and orchestrating a company's IPO.
